Artificial Intelligence for Medical Image Analysis
Victoria Butterworth completed her MPhys in Physics with Study in New Zealand at the University of Exeter and the University of Auckland in 2018. She joined the NHS Scientist Training Programme later that year, qualifying as an HCPC-registered Clinical Scientist with an MSc in Clinical Sciences from King’s College London in 2021. She subsequently took up a post as a radiotherapy physicist at Guy’s and St Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust. In 2024, Victoria was awarded a King’s Health Partners Centre for Translational Medicine pre-doctoral fellowship to develop artificial intelligence models for predicting recurrence in patients with head and neck cancer. She has since been awarded a Medical Research Council Clinical Research Training Fellowship to undertake a PhD focused on the development and evaluation of AI applications in head and neck cancer radiotherapy, including tumour auto-segmentation and recurrence risk prediction. Her doctoral research is supervised by Dr Teresa Guerrero Urbano (Guy’s and St Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust) and Professor Andrew King (King’s College London).
